A Safer Path for 2026: Community Vigilance Leads to Five Successful Emergency Clearances on Day One

QUANG TRI, VIETNAM (January 9, 2026) – The new year has begun with a heartening display of community cooperation and rapid action in Quang Tri Province. On Monday, January 5th—the first working day of 2026 following the holiday break—the NPA/RENEW Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team returned to the field and successfully responded to five separate requests for help, safely removing dangerous explosives found in the middle of busy residential areas.

QTMAC receives 6 hotline calls from local people to report explosive ordnance daily.

Since 2016, QTMAC has deployed hotline number 0901941941 to receive calls from local people to report on finding explosive ordnance. Statistical data from the mine action Database show that QTMAC receives 6 calls to report on finding explosive ordnance daily on average. Currently, the capacity to handle explosive ordnance from emergency calls by operators coordinated by QTMAC is within 72 hours from the time the call is received.
