50 delegates who are experts, senior managers from MAG, NPA/RENEW, PTVN, leaders, and staff of QTMAC attended the workshop. On behalf of QTMAC’s leaders, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Vu, Deputy director delivered a speech to declare, apply QMSOP on the site and thank all international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and relevant agencies for their cooperation to develop the QMSOP.
The QMSOP was developed by QTMAC for nearly two years after consulting INGOs, Vietnam National Mine Action Center ( VNMAC), and The Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in Vietnam, and an appraisal from Quang Tri Provincial Military Command (PMC). On 12 July 2022, Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) issued a correspondence on approval of the QMSOP and assigned QTMAC to pilot the QMSOP on the site.
With the issuance and pilot of QMSOP on the site, QTMAC will act as the supporting agency for the Provincial Mine Action Steering Committee ( PMASC) to monitor and implement quality management (QM) of technical and non-technical surveys (TS and NTS), battle area clearance (BAC) and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) in Quang Tri as in the provincial mine action program period 2021-2025 issued by PMASC.
The issuance and application of QMSOP is an important and necessary milestone, contributing to ensuring all mine action operations are carried out safely, all the resources are effectively used, fully meeting national mine action standards (NMAS) and international mine action standards (IMAS).
We are grateful to the State Department’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement for funding the Project “Capacity development for QMTAC” for the past years and the period 2022-2025.
